Everyone speaks differently. Language changes constantly. People used to think it was really cool to say that things were "wicked", and somewhere along the line "sick" meant something was good instead of poorly.
This is a good thing, though. People make language their own, as individual as they are, and part of the joy of words is discovering how to use them.
